Executive Training Programmes

Our training programmes are designed for senior executives of your organisation or senior managers identified for growth within your organisation.

They are currently presented in-house or live via Zoom or Teams.

Current Programmes offered

Being A Director

In our experience of working with various companies we have found that many directors occupy their positions without having had any formal training.

  • Our full day, or 2 half days, training programme will ensure that governing body members understand their roles and responsibilities as well as their fiduciary duties and liabilities.
  • We also look at governance and ethics in the programme based on the King V and                               ISO 37000 frameworks.
  • We have managed to simplify the part of the Companies Act that applies to the above topics.
  • Our presenter ( a certified Director with the Institute), also uses a number of case studies and his extensive experience to make the entire programme enjoyable.
  • This program is often combined with our other programmes to provide 2 days of insightful training.

This program is suitable for existing directors and aspiring directors, providing the foundation required to perform their duties.

Conducting in-house Board Evaluations

There is currently no requirement for companies in South Africa to conduct Board evaluations. It is however recommended that an evaluation be performed at least every 2 years.

Board and board member evaluation may be conducted by an external party or may be conducted internally. Their are pro's and cons of doing either.

We would recommend that your first evaluation be done by an external party as part of the learning process. Thereafter you can conduct your own board evaluations and only bring in an outside party every 2 or 3 years. This will probably save some costs, but will not be independent and some board members may not be comfortable or divulge concerns they may have.

  • This training programme is approximately 2 1/2 hours long including case studies.
  • At the end of the training The Chair or Lead Independent director will be able to conduct their own assessment.
  • Other Governing Body members will also have a clearer understanding of the reasons and outcomes of these board evaluations.

The programme will benefit all of the current Governing body members.

Every executive or Chair believes they manage their meetings well.

Managing a board meeting and importantly, being a participating member requires different rules, actions and behaviours than that of an ordinary meeting.

In this programme we delve into the roles of each participating meeting member , their expectations, the companies expectations and legal requirements.

  • This programme is approximately 1 1/2 hours long.
  • It also provides insights into identifying red flags, with recommendations on how to manage these

This programme is suitable for all Governing Body members and in particular the Chair of the Governing body. Aspiring directors will also benefit from attending this course

Managing Change and Resistance to Change

With the rapid change evident in todays world, it is imperative that the board and in particular the executive directors and their senior managers understand change, how to manage it and also how to identify and manage the various forms of resistance, which are not always evident or obvious.

  • Understanding the emotional cycle of change helps us to deal with the emotional cycle.
  • When dealing with change there are 3 behavioural components that must be addressed.
  • Being able to identify the various forms of resistance to change and the management thereof,  is paramount in being able to manage the change
  • This programme is 2 1/2 hours in duration.

The programme will benefit all governing body members as well as the company's management.
